Purchase of the Property
Captain Wallace Burton, a Civil War captain, encouraged his former troops to buy land in the town.
1891
First House Built
Henry Randall builds the first house at 4506 Rhode Island Avenue. The house is still standing.
1905
First Baptist Church of North Brentwood established
1907
Brentwood Colored Citizens Association
The BCCA was formed under the leadership of William ``Judge`` Conway.
1913
North Brentwood Episcopal Zion Church organized
1920
Jeremiah Hawkins elected Delegate
Hawkins was elected delegate to the Republican National Committee in Kansas City.
1923
Streetlights were installed
1924
North Brentwood Incorporated
The town was incorporated under Jeremiah Hawkins, the towns first mayor.
1925
North Brentwood Elementary School is constructed.

1933
The Great Flood
North Brentwood completely flooded by several feet of water from the Northwest Branch.
1940
New Streets
The town completed paving the streets and established a new system for naming them.
1956
Pumps and Levies
A pumping and levy system was built to eliminate flooding in town; on some occasions, the flooding required boats for rescuing residents.
1969
North Brentwood School closed
North Brentwood school closes and razed the next year.
1975
North Brentwood Community Center
The North Brentwood Community Center is constructed. Tennis courts and mini-park were added to the site of the razed school building.
1991
The North Brentwood Historical Society was formed.
2003
Historic District entered into National Register of Historic Places
The town historic district was entered into the National Register of Historic Places, a division of the National Park Service United States Department of Interior.
